Job Function:
Learn and develop skills to begin the pathway into an Apprenticeship.
Responsibilities:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities. Employee may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
- Learn how to operate and program Vertical Manual Mills with Accu-rite/Proto-Trac Control.
- Learn essentials of Draftsight 2D software.
- Learn essentials of Solidworks 3D software.
- Learn how to operate Lathe.
- Learn how to program and operate CNC and Manual EDM Hole Drill Machines.
- Learn how to operate the Surface Water Grinders and Manual Surface Grinders.
- Gain knowledge in holding accuracy in different types of machining.
- Learn to layout workpieces.
- Operate and understand the use of hand tools, grinding machinery, milling machinery, drill presses, lathe, band saw, heat treating ovens, optical comparator, various measuring devices, and lifting techniques.
- Perform mathematical and geometric functions and possess mechanical aptitude.
- Read blueprints and work with various software.
- Cooperate with other employees in order to satisfy the job requirements.
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations from the company handbook or as necessitated by State regulations for individuals under 18 years of age if applicable.
- Complete data entry in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain a tidy and clean workstation.
- Perform Tool Room Maintenance duties and misc. tasks as assigned
Skills:
- Basic math skills, Ability to follow directions both written and verbal.
- Good communication skills and team skills required to complete projects on time.
- Understand the operation of computer and tool room equipment relative to their job responsibilities.
Education and Experience:
Minimum educational requirements listed below may be substituted by relevant experience, learned competencies and/or certifications obtained throughout one’s career.
- Enrolled in an accredited High School with Junior or Senior Status
- A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
- If under 18 you must be enrolled in a H.S. Youth Apprenticeship Program through Wisconsin DWD or currently enrolled in/recently completed H.S. metal working courses
- On path to receive a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements/Protective Clothing Required:
- Work is in a manufacturing setting with noise and some grinding dust. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull 100 to 2500 lbs. using die carts.
- Must wear protective shoes, safety glasses, Company attire and wear ear protection while working around loud noises.
