Metrology Quality Technician

Job Function:

Assist in the development of incoming, raw material, in-process, and final inspection testing, while also verifying documentation requirements. The aforementioned duties are completed in accordance with the Brunk Quality System to ensure that all components meet specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete documented training and fully understand all SOPs/WIs that apply to the job duties.
  • Assist in the completion of capability studies, GR&R’s, FAI, and other reports for new and revised component activities.
  • Assist in the development, update, or completion, of incoming, raw material, in-process, and final inspection testing per controlled documents using specified metrology tools.
  • Develop and/or compile and approve quality shipment documentation per controlled documents.
  • Provide training and mentoring of quality functions.
  • Verification and documentation of rejected components or material.
  • Assist other departments during process troubleshooting activities.
  • Take part in continuous improvement activities.
  • Promote teamwork and effective communication within the department as well as peers and management.
  • Follow all safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Required Skills:

  • Strong arithmetic skills
  • Ability to interpret blueprints/drawings, GD&T, SPC.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret internal, customer, federal, and international specifications.
  • Advanced knowledge of micrometers, calipers and indicators, comparators.
  • Working knowledge of CMM, automated vision systems, surface analysis, and force testers.
  • Proficient in learning computer systems and experience utilizing Microsoft Office applications and ERPs.
  • Excellent documentation practices along with good communication skills.
  • Detail and process orientated
  • Able to work independently while maintaining a team environment.

Preference given to candidates with:

  • Knowledge of metal stamping and machining processes.

Education and Experience:

Minimum educational requirements listed below may be substituted by relevant experience, learned competencies and/or certifications obtained throughout one’s career.

  • Minimum 5+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing setting and medical device component manufacturing is desired.
  • ISO 13485 or equivalent experience desired.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician desired.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Work Environment:

Office, some work in manufacturing setting with noise, grinding, dust and residue. Light lifting (30 lbs. or less).
Must wear safety glasses, steel toe shoes, and hearing protection while in the manufacturing areas.
