Position Summary:
Provide technical support to the manufacturing operation by providing, defining, and implementing processes, documenting and costing these processes and following the cost performance thus ensuring the Brunk high quality standards. Extend technical support to other organization units in the development of customer products. Share and mentor manufacturing engineers to further understand manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities:
- Mentor fellow manufacturing engineers to further understand current manufacturing process including design and development of new manufacturing processes.
- Represent the Engineering team and provide expertise to the integrated development team including Design, Purchasing, Quality, Supply Chain, Customer Service and Manufacturing during development
- Provide engineering expertise in resolving specific technology issues during development and provide support to the production team during ramp and sustaining activities
- Develop processes and rates for customer quotations in response to inquiries while working with Tooling, Engineering, Purchasing, and Customer Service to obtain needed information
- Provide engineering expertise in managing materials delivered from the integrated supply chain
- Drive Continuous Improvement activities within the manufacturing area to meet and exceed operational objectives and goals
- Implement process changes as required by customer request or in response to manufacturing quality issues on both new and existing processes
- Provide engineering expertise to the sales and customer service teams in working with customers including delivering technical presentations
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
- 10-15 years in developing manufacturing processes for a high volume global manufacturer
- Expertise to interpret technical drawings
- Expertise to translate process parameters into measurable cost elements
- Demonstrated experience with FMEA, PCP, DOE, LEAN, Change Control, Statistics
- Ability to make and meet commitments in a fast paced, technology driven environment
- High level proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Project, JMP (or comparable Stats tool)
Preference given to candidates with:
- Knowledge of metal stamping, metal finishing, metal plating and machining processes
- Experience in process development in an integrated team environment
- Certification in Project Management, Six Sigma, LEAN
Education:
- BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering or Material Science
Work Environment:
- Work is in an office and heavy manufacturing environment
- Must be able to perform light lifting < 50 lbs
- Must wear safety glasses and job specific PPE performing work while in manufacturing area
